กระบวนการขัดชิ้นงานด้วยเครื่องพ่นทราย โดยมีแรงดันจากปั๊มลมเป็นแรงขับเคลื่อนทรายให้กระทบผิวของชิ้นงาน ทำให้ขัดผิวได้รวดเร็วเข้าถึงทุกซอกทุกมุมดีกว่าการขัดด้วยมือ เราสามารถเลือกให้ผิวของชิ้นงานหยาบหรือละเอียดได้ตามต้องการโดยการเลือกขนาดของเม็ดทรายที่ใช้ E.C.F. เราใช้เครื่องพ่นทรายแรงดันสูง (Pressure Blast Machine) เป็นเครื่องพ่นทรายที่เหมาะสำหรับงานที่มีขนาดใหญ่ เช่น ถังบรรจุเคมี งานขัดสนิมถังน้ำมันกลางแจ้ง งานขัดสนิมเหล็กโครงสร้าง งานขัดสนิมเรือ หรือ งานถังกรองต่าง ๆ เป็นต้น
ถังพ่นทรายจะมีระบบอัดแรงดันสูง ต้องใช้ปั้มลมขนาดใหญ่ ทรายที่ใช้จะเป็นทรายทะเล ทราย Copper slag หรือทรายที่มีราคาถูก เพราะใช้ได้ครั้งเดียวหมุนเวียนไม่ได้ การพ่นทรายจะทำกลางแจ้งหรือในห้องพ่นทรายขนาดใหญ่ ผู้พ่นทรายต้องสวมใส่ชุดนิรภัยเพื่อป้องกันตนเอง ส่วนห้องพ่นทรายทาง E.C.F มีระบบสเปรย์กำจัดฝุ่นเพื่อป้องมลพิษทางอากาศ
